ABOUT US

Top 10 things to know about Laughing stock vineyards

1

Portfolio has been the top selling Bordeaux style blend of BC wine in BC for 4 of the past 5 years*

2

David’s first winemaking experience was as a true ‘garagiste’ in 2001, making wine in a garage in White Rock, BC with grapes smuggled from Walla Walla, WA, the week after 9/11.

3

In 2003, LFNG was the 9th winery on the Naramata Bench. There are now over 40 wineries along this 19 km route.

4

Owners David & Cynthia are not passive investors as they are both very hands on: Cynthia grows the grapes and David makes the wine.

5

LFNG was the 1st winery on the Naramata Bench to start using double sorting tables at harvest in 2006 - allowing us to only include the best grapes in our wines.

6

LFNG began using concrete egg fermenters  in 2009, and have since expanded the program to 4 fermenters nicknamed “Free Range”, "Fabergé", “Scrambled” & “Benedict”.  We believe these 'eggs' add some unique attributes to the wine including fresh flavours and fuller texture.

7

In 2013, LFNG acquired 2 Italian amphorae. These clay fermenters have been used throughout history and David is using them to explore 'natural' wine-making.

8

The winery has an intensive barrel program of over 350 barrels, using 100% French Oak, 6 coopers in both classic barriques and large format puncheons.

9

50% of our grapes are grown on the Naramata Bench and 50% come from our estate vineyard in Osoyoos where there are 20% more growing degree days for our big reds.

10

Only one of the last 13 vintages of Portfolio was Cabernet Sauvignon the dominant grape.  All have been more ‘right-bank’ Bordeaux-inspired using Merlot based blends.
