The 2014 vintage of Portfolio has a luscious nose with flavour notes of sun-soaked strawberry, rich plum, dried thyme and a powerful somewhat savoury body. The tannins are muscular and are highlighted by refreshing acid which will ensure the age-ability of this wine. The finish is smooth and velvety and the flavours intermingle and evolve further after every sip. 

winemaking notes

The 2014 vintage combines the five classic varietals: 49% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot to create a multi-layered, complex wine. 

Using double sorting tables to sort grapes first by cluster and then by berry allows us to put meticulous attention on using only the best grapes in our wines. Our oak program continues to be fine-tuned and includes the use of oak fermenters in addition to our stainless steel tank ferments. Portfolio is aged exclusively in French oak barrels and puncheons for 19 months.

Barrels are individually tasted and selected to create balance in flavours, tannins and acidity in the final blend of Portfolio.

vintage notes

Simply put, the 2014 growing year was HOT. For grape growing, that translates to a quality vintage year. Even with the typical June rains, the season was above average for temperatures and the early spring really created a long growing season. While we anticipated an early harvest, we did get a nice pause with warm days and cool nights typical of the Okanagan Valley. This allowed flavours to develop and catch up with the sugar development and still retain fresh acidity for balanced whites. Definitely a stunning vintage.
