Our thirteenth release, Portfolio 2016 is nothing short of superb. It combines the five classic Bordeaux varietals: 51% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot to create a multi-layered, complex wine. Using double sorting tables to sort grapes first by cluster, then by berry allows us to put meticulous attention on using only the best grapes in our wines. And after 20 months in French oak barrels, the wine is approachable now but could cellar for a decade.

Crush Pad Convergence

Laughing Stock started on a shoestring, and in a garage. 
 
At the time, David’s winemaking knowledge was self-taught. Practical experience was slim. The inaugural crush comprised of a single car trailer of grapes. Personally driven too.
 
Fast forward to 2018, our winemaking team has been significantly enhanced by the addition of the remarkably pedigreed Nikki Callaway.  

David Enns has 17 vintages under his belt. So too does Nikki. Together with our Assistant Winemaker Stefanie Dylla and our Cellar Hand Brendan Miu, our winemaking foursome have collectively championed over 45 vintages. Beyond this impressive stat, Nikki, Stefanie and Brendan have produced double-hemisphere harvests for several of these vintages. Team bios here.
 
Crush is an exhilarating season for wineries. For us, in our 16th harvest, it is so rewarding to see a convergence of of a solid growing season in the vineyards with such a wealth of winemaking talent. For certain, 2018 is a stellar vintage in the making.
